Lala Hansraj Mahajan ji established the Mahajan Sabha in Jammu in 1892, and gradually, Mahajan Sabhas were formed in various cities across the country. The Federal Assembly in Delhi was established at the national level. In 1963, Chief Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan renamed this assembly as the “Akhil Bharatiya Mahajan Shiromani Sabha” and got it registered with the government under this name. Currently, there are approximately 200 local Sabhas across the country, with central and regional assemblies in major cities. The initiative that Lala Hansraj ji planted has now been nurtured by Chief Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan ji into a large tree.
What is a Sabha? What is its purpose? Understanding this is very important. A Sabha is a platform where members of a particular class, caste, or community come together. The purpose of a Sabha is to work for the welfare of families within that community. This includes fostering mutual understanding, brotherhood, helping those in need, increasing love among members, and assisting each other in business.
Building Mahajan Halls/Bhawan and organizing meetings/conferences are steps to achieve these objectives.
Reflecting Mahajan values, connecting communities, and celebrating our heritage.
